Keeping the passion alive

When he joined a&o, what immediately struck Kevin Flynn – incoming General Manager for Systems – was the passion of the team. It led him to coin the phrase ‘40-year-old start-up’.

‘As a business matures, it can be a challenge to maintain the drive and innovation of the early days. So for a seasoned manager, it is exciting to move into an established company and find that energy is still very much in evidence,’ says Kevin, who brings with him over 15 years’ experience in managing strategic account teams for UK technology providers.

‘This is an organisation with an incredible history of delivering service, but it still feels fresh,’ explains Kevin. ‘It is a business that lives its values, where the people have a real appetite for innovation.’

Of course, with over four decades of business expertise, the company has many powerful advantages over a start-up. ‘We’ve got an established infrastructure to support the team and our clients,’ says Kevin. ‘“Customer first” is something that there’s a passion about here. It’s supported by an active feedback process to encourage communication and address any problems so that we can resolve them quickly. My aim is to work even more closely with our clients, harnessing our passion for innovation and technology to truly deliver business value in the face of difficult market conditions.’

Now that an austerity budget has been announced by the UK government, organisations will need to review their IT strategies. ‘The cuts are coming and they will force our customers – especially in the public sector – to work in smarter ways,’ says Kevin. ‘Our business model, our use of technology innovation and our shared service delivery enable customers to innovate so that they can deliver against the cost challenges whilst maintaining – or, in some cases, improving – service levels.

‘a&o is an organisation that embraces effective partnering with both clients and technology vendors. We continue to refine our key partnerships and services in line with our clients’ needs and demands, always with the ambition of increasing their operational efficiency and delivering tangible IT value.’
